Cape Software, Inc. provides an excellent PC-based simulation product called VP Link that can interface with Foxboro I/A (from at least I/A 4.3 to present). VP Link simulates flow, pressure, temperature, and digital signals from the field to a configured Foxboro I/A DCS. As such, it is quite useful for bench testing I/A logic and controls before they are implemented in a production factility.

Setup of the software is not difficult and it can provide any level of complexity from simple to high-fidelity simulation of plant conditions and show how a particular I/A configuration would behave in response. The product works with all standard I/A block types (including PLB ladder logic). Cape's development and support groups are also helpful in configuration of the product.
